On Sunday, my daughters were both baptized, which was exciting. When Rianne and Lauren were born we decided to have them dedicated rather than baptized. This was due to our wanting baptism to have meaning to our children than an indiscriminate part of their faith. Baptism was to be meaningful and heartfelt to them. Jennifer had spent hours, days, and years talking to the girls about their faith. That their faith be real and genuine, that they truly acknowledged what they were doing instead of doing what their parents wanted them to do.
Sunday as we stood there with their Godparent (Eric) and pseudo-God parents (Gina and Joe), it was a exciting sight. As Pastor Ron asked them the questions of faith. Do they acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and will they serve Him in all that they do? They in their quiet way answered affirmative. At that moment their faith was not something that was Jenn’s or mine, but their own.
Awesome.

While I am an infant Baptism kind of guy,
congrats on raising girls who have room to explore and discover what God has in store for them.
